In honor of Earth Day, we released a limited edition mochila crafted with the upcycled fabrics from previous collections and in collaboration with the Juriaka community of the Guajira region in Colombia. Our work with these talented artisans began over 10 years ago and it has been lovely to see how our partnership has flourished and how it has ultimately empowered the community. Providing Juriaka with constant work throughout the years has given many of them the opportunity to go to school and have an overall better quality of life. As a brand, we are incredibly proud of this alliance!
Handcrafted by the tribe’s female artisans, the bag features a delicate planet Earth made from Swarovski crystals. This limited edition Mochila bag is more than just a sustainable accessory – it’s a fusion of old and new worlds, and a physical reminder to preserve ancestral traditions and our planet.
A look back at the making of this special bag that has been embellished with Swarovski crystals in the shape of our planet.
As many of you know, 25% of the proceeds of the Earth Day mochila go towards this special community. Below, you can see pictures of a recent visit to the region where baskets of packaged foods and face masks were delivered to families who are having difficulty purchasing groceries during COVID-19. These staple foods were purchased with funds from sales of the limited edition handbag and the protective face masks were manufactured in our workshop in Barranquilla.
We wholeheartedly thank you for supporting this initiative.
