We celebrated the launch of our totumo bags
with Maison de Mode during Paris Fashion Week
Maison de Mode’s Carmen Busquets and Hassan Pierre, hosted and intimate dinner in celebration of designer Silvia Tcherassi and the launch of her sustainable ‘Totumo’ handbag. Tropical music and vibrant florals surrounded the special evening transporting guests into a Caribbean oasis in the midst of Paris fashion week.
The handbag is crafted with the dried fruit of the Calabash tree native to South America and pays tribute to traditional artisanship and the very essence of nature. This fascinating tree grows in the wild, and its round fruit is carefully hand-picked from its branches— leaving trees intact in the removal process. As a plus, the unique object has a natural shiny quality that means no chemicals are needed to give it a polished finish.
“This season, we lined the inside of the object with leftover fabrics from the collection in an effort to reduce waste and repurpose. As a brand, taking care of the environment has been at the top of our priorities and we are constantly taking steps towards a more sustainable and conscious process.
Not only is nature a constant inspiration in my work, but I come from a country that holds the second largest biodiversity in the world. Sustainability is more than a trend for us, it’s ingrained in our DNA,”
says designer, Silvia Tcherassi.
The result? A chic accessory that fuses tradition and a profound respect for nature with the brand’s characteristic casual glamour.
